We all desire to shape our lives in accordance with our dreams and desires. Manifestation allows you to do this through working with various practices to help shape your conscious and subconscious mind to allow space for your manifestations to come through. Meditation has been used for thousands of years to quiet the mind and connect to higher powers, and especially useful when trying to manifest. This article explores the principles behind manifestation and meditation and how to combine them for a magical and powerful practice.
What is manifestation?
Manifestation is the practice of taking your dreams and goals which do not exist yet and making them a reality in your life. This also includes cultivating experience of what it is that you want to feel and then living and believing in that experience so that you can allow it to materialise.
Some spiritual teachers also explain that manifestation is the process of getting into the vibrational frequency of that which you wish to experience so that you become an energetic match to it. This means focusing on cultivating feelings of trust, joy, and faith.
Manifestation is essentially a journey to learn about yourself and where you might be holding energetic blocks and working to remove them to allow all the things you desire to come into your life.
What manifestation is
- A spiritual practice
- A journey of self-development
- The ability to trust and surrender
- A way of connecting with your deepest dreams
- A practice grounded in spirituality, neuroscience and energetics
What manifestation isn’t
- A one size fits all method
- A way of demanding what you want from the universe
- An instant practice (although sometimes it does work very fast!)
- A completely ungrounded theory with no evidence to support it
Meditation: what is it?
Meditation is the process of quieting the mind, particularly thoughts, to connect with your higher self. It has been practiced for thousands of years across all cultures and comes in many different forms. Meditation also encourages a heightened state of awareness and increased attention.
The effects of meditation have been well researched and are backed by science. Regular meditation reduces stress, calms anxiety, and even helps control pain. You can read more about the benefits here. Meditation is undoubtedly a great tool to implement into your daily life.
Manifestation Meditation
When manifestation and meditation are combined, the effects are pretty powerful. As you relax and focus your mind in meditation, you are then in a more powerful state to focus on your manifestations. Here are a few methods to practice to help connect to the energy of your manifestations and enhance the process.
Visualisation
Visualisation involves picturing your desired outcome in your mind before it has actually happened. Let’s say you wish to call in your dream job. You might visualise what you would wear to work every day, how you would feel, your morning commute, what your desk would look like etc. The more detail, the better! As you create a detailed image in your mind and cultivate the feelings of this already being your reality, you have already begun the process of manifesting. The reason why this is so effective is that the brain loves visuals and cannot tell the difference between real and imagined, so you are signalling that this reality already exists!
Affirmation Meditation
You can use affirmations as a focus point during meditation. As you repeat one affirmation or a selection of affirmations, the mind begins to focus on the words and enters a trance-like state. This helps create momentum around your manifestation and also stops the mind wandering. You can prepare a selection of affirmations before meditating, or you can allow an affirmation to come to you as your mind begins to settle. Learn how to write your own affirmations here.
Intuitive Meditation
If you feel comfortable meditating and are able to calm your mind then an intuitive meditation might be the best option for you. Intuitive meditation is a relaxed and free flowing form or meditation rather than following a specific method or formula. Once you feel relaxed after slowing your breathing, you might allow your intuition to communicate to you through words, pictures, or feelings. This is a very powerful way of manifesting as it allows the space for your intuition/higher self/source/God to communicate to you and provide powerful insights as to the next steps you need to take.
Guided Meditations
Meditation can be difficult if you are a beginner or don’t have much experience. Luckily, there are many guided meditations available on lots of different platforms to follow to suit every preference. I personally use Insight Timer which is free to download and offers a wide range of meditations, including manifestation meditations. Guided meditations are a great way to help you manifest as they take the pressure off trying to create your own meditation and allow you to relax as you are guided by someone more experienced.
Why is meditation so helpful for manifestation?
There are many different manifestation techniques, but meditation undoubtedly is one of the most powerful yet flexible methods. The ability to focus the mind and direct your energy towards your manifestation means you are beginning the process of getting in alignment with your dreams. The fact that there are so many different types of meditation available means that there is a type to suit everyone.
